What Are The Components Of A Truck Crane Lifting System?
The crane lifting operation system consists of 5 components:
- Working Devices: Composed of main boom, auxiliary boom, main boom extension mechanism, luffing mechanism, slewing mechanism, slewing bearing, main hoisting mechanism, auxiliary hoisting mechanism, main hook, auxiliary hook, counterweight, wire rope, etc.

- Operator’s Cab and Covering: Composed of the operator’s cab, machine shed, etc.
The lifting capacity of a truck crane includes the weight of the hook and the spreader. It varies with the telescoping of the boom and the multiplying factor of the hoisting steel wire rope, because the lifting capacity is determined by the boom strength and the stability of the entire machine.
1.Determine the basic parameters of the hoisting task.
Lifting capacity: The weight of the object to be lifted.
Lifting height: The maximum height to be reached.
Working radius: The coverage range of the boom.
These parameters must match the performance of the crane with a safety margin reserved.
2.Ground bearing capacity
3.Space constraints
4.Traffic conditions
5.Cost factors
6.Safety performance
7.Resource utilization
Truck Crane: It features high mobility and flexibility, fast driving speed, quick site relocation and low cost. Small-tonnage models (8–25 tons) are suitable for small and medium-sized projects.
Crawler Crane: Equipped with a crawler chassis, it has a large contact area between the crawlers and the ground as well as low ground pressure. It is adaptable to soft, muddy and rugged terrains without the need for ground hardening, and is ideal for lifting operations in complex terrains such as wind power projects, bridge construction and mining sites.
All-terrain Crane: It adopts a multi-axle off-road chassis with a large outrigger span. It can adapt to mild off-road surfaces and has excellent stability, making it suitable for lifting large-scale equipment.
The working principle of a crane’s hydraulic system is to transmit power and control movement by means of hydraulic pressure energy.
- Outrigger Support: During lifting operations, the outrigger hydraulic cylinders extend to lift the tires off the ground, ensuring the stability and levelness of the entire machine.
- Slewing Movement: The hydraulic motor drives the slewing platform via a reduction mechanism to achieve horizontal rotation of the boom. A directional control valve regulates forward/reverse rotation or locks the boom in position.
- Boom Telescoping and Luffing: Hydraulic cylinders drive the boom to extend/retract or adjust its inclination angle. A balancing circuit prevents accidental dropping caused by the boom’s own weight.
- Heavy Load Lifting and Lowering: The hydraulic motor drives the winch, which cooperates with pulley blocks and steel wire ropes to lift and lower heavy loads. Stepless speed regulation can be achieved by adjusting the hydraulic flow rate.
- Non-standard operations: Randomly altering operating procedures, failing to maintain a safe distance, etc. Such non-standard operations may cause crane accidents and even lead to casualties.
- Overloading: Overloading may result in severe consequences such as structural damage, loss of control or overturning of the crane.
- Neglect of safety inspections: This may cause potential safety hazards to go undetected and unaddressed in a timely manner, which in turn triggers accidents.
- Lack of communication and coordination: Conflicts arise between crane operations and other workflows, increasing the risk of accidents.
- Non-compliance with environmental regulations: Using cranes under harsh conditions such as high temperature, low temperature and humidity may lead to performance degradation or malfunction of the crane
The rated lifting capacity is a theoretical limit that includes the weight of the spreader, which is used for equipment design and safety specifications; the actual working load refers to the net weight excluding the spreader, which directly determines the material hoisting efficiency.
1. Safety Devices
Integrating basic safety configurations such as limiters, load limiters and anti-derailment devices, it can effectively prevent the risks of over-travel, overloading and derailment.
2. Control and Operation Optimization
Wireless remote control replaces the traditional control handle, allowing operators to accurately control the movement of heavy loads at a safe distance, thus improving flexibility and safety.
3. Environmental Adaptability Configuration
For corrosive environments (e.g., chemical industry or coastal areas), the crane body is made of stainless steel or aluminum alloy and coated with anti-corrosion layers (e.g., epoxy zinc-rich primer), which can extend the service life of the equipment.
4. Transmission and Positioning Enhancement
For high-precision positioning requirements, high-rigidity gearboxes (e.g., HB or HX series) can be selected as an option. Their reinforced gear and bearing design can reduce shaking and improve load-bearing stability.
5. Maintenance Convenience Design
The modular structure and easily detachable components (e.g., quick lubrication points) can simplify the daily inspection and maintenance processes.
Modern cranes have achieved digitalization and intelligence of safety management by integrating telematics and intelligent monitoring systems. These systems leverage sensors, communication technologies and data analytics to enhance operational safety, efficiency and traceability.
Core Monitoring Functions
The system monitors key operating parameters in real time, including lifting capacity, load moment, working radius, lifting height, slewing angle and wind speed, so as to prevent risks such as overloading and collision.
